What can you find in this site?

Mainly freely accessible articles and reports, Open Access or just free avaliable online, published by Institutes, Universities, authors, scientific publishers, associations, governements etc. on “transport and environment”. There is also a list of world events, PhD theses, proceedings.

Is this new site different from my old one?

My older site www.trasportiambiente.it (still working and updated) – due to lack of space – contains only some fulltext, and mainly links and bibliographic data, abstracts or summaries (if available) , with a link to the original page from which you can download the document.
This new site can host images and full-text documents (preprints, articles, reports, books, PhD theses, proceedings). These are Open Access scientific publications and links to freely accessible material, which in some cases require a free registration on the original site in order to access the material and download it.

Where are the articles published by Elsevier and other big publishers?

In order to find scientific literature on transport and environment, you still need to search the usual commercial databases (Google Scholar, Web of Science, Scopus) but the number of Open Acces articles published by Elsevier, Springer etc. is increasing, as the number of new Open Acces journals. It would be foolish to copy or remake the huge professional work carried out by the indexing databases and professional sites, especially since most of the indexed articles are only accessible for a fee or at the institutions (university and research libraries) which subscribe to the journals. As an increasing number of publications (working papers, articles, reports, theses) is published by the authors (scientists) in their personal or institutional open access archive, and these texts are indentical or very similar to those published in journals, this site links directly to the repositories (Open Access Archives).
